The origins of this rejuvenating Five Element Form are lost in the ancient history of Northern India but it is believed that in the year 527AD an Indian Yogic monk named Bodhidharma travelled to China to spread the teachings of Buddha.
Bodhidharma then realized that his students also suffered from the same conditions often falling asleep from fatigue and illness during his lessons and meditations so he began to teach Buddhist Tantric Yoga exercises combined with his own observation of the behaviour of everything that shared the sanctuary of the monastery.
One of these rejuvenating exercises known as the Five Element Form was designed to create health and vitality in his students so they could continue to study and also to heal their injuries and cure the illnesses that occurred during their stay at the monastery. This Yogic form was designed to balance and realize the creative potential of uniting the Pancha Koshas which are represented in the form by Asana, Pranayama, Mind, Intuition and Compassion.
The healing colours and sounds used in the Five Element Form are also from the Tantric Yoga tradition known as Tantric Nyasa.
I am teaching the foundation of this powerful form under the direction and permission of my teacher Peter Clifford.... Sidhamo!
